LPC Men’s Retreat 2015
October 16 – 18
Men of all ages are welcome to join us as we learn about how God works in our daily lives. We hope to encourage men to grow in their faith and relationships as we learn from others who are doing the very same thing.
Each year, we look forward to having our faith deepened, hearts strengthened, and minds transformed as we fellowship with other men. Our retreat takes place up at beautiful Lake Arrowhead. We have homes reserved, close by one another and near the Lake.
This year our special speaker will be Rev. Tim McCalmont, Pastor at Presbyterian Church of the Covenant, Costa Mesa.
Tim has been at PCC for the last twenty years. He tells wonderful stories about growing up in Hollywood, graduating from Hollywood High and graduating with degrees from Whitworth College in Spokane, Washington and Fuller Seminary. He pastored other churches in Seattle and Downey before coming to Costa Mesa. Tim and his wife Ruth have three kids, all married, and four grandchildren, two who live locally and two who live in the northwest.
Tim is an avid sports fan, loving the intricacies of baseball and the demanding precision of golf. Though he is still a “hacker” who shoots in the mid-90s, he will tell you it’s the “fellowship of the game” that draws him, as well as the shadow of possibility that he can “play this game.” He loves to preach and teach the Scriptures and is driven by the preparation. His favorite hobbies include photography and spinning imaginative tales for his grandkids.
A Snapshot of the Weekend
We meet for dinner on Friday night at the main house. Following dinner we gather for a discussion led by our guest speaker. Saturday morning after breakfast, we meet for worship and discussion. Free time is Saturday afternoon. After dinner at the Lake Arrowhead village, there is a time of worship and discussion at the “Main House” with the guest speaker. Sunday morning we start with breakfast and conclude with Communion. Then back to your house to clean up and pack. You are on your own for lunch on the way back to Laguna Beach.
Activities available during our Saturday afternoon free time include mountain activities: hiking, walking in the village, biking, reading, napping, a game of cards, various field games on the nearby grassy knoll, and fishing (supply your own bike and fishing gear).
Registration includes: Shared room for two nights, two breakfasts, one lunch and one dinner, as well as all retreat materials. You will need extra cash for one dinner out and for travel expenses.
Final information will be sent to you two weeks before leaving.
