Serving in Local Community Organizations

Feeding the Homeless

Provide an evening meal for the homeless at the Laguna Beach Alternative Sleeping Location (ASL). Laguna Presbyterian Church provides meals on the 2nd, 3rd and 5th Tuesdays and the 2nd Friday of each month.

LaPlaya ESL Center

Provides free English (as a second language) lessons taught by volunteers of the community. Lessons are Monday through Thursday from 9 -11 AM at the Laguna Beach Boys and Girls Club.

Dresses for Africa Group – Tuesdays, 12:30 PM

Sews dresses and shorts for children of Africa.  Join this group, which meets every Tuesday in Tankersley Hall from 12:30 to 3:00 PM.  Take-home kits with supplies are available or use your own material. The community is welcome!

Love Thy Neighbor Program

Assist seniors, widows and others, by delivering a multitude of services they can no longer do for themselves. This program reaches out to members of Laguna Presbyterian Church and to individuals in the Laguna Beach community.

Military Outreach

Coordinates with San Clemente Military Family Outreach (SCMFO) to assist and support military families on Camp Pendleton Marine Base, especially during Thanksgiving and Christmas with holiday meals and help in purchasing school supplies.

Habitat for Humanity

Volunteers build homes to help families purchase interest-free, decent, affordable, healthy places to live. Watch for information about future building dates.

Wilson School

Each fall, Laguana Presbyterian Church helps to provide and sort books for a book fair at Wilson School in Santa Ana.

 

Supporting Our Local Community Organizations

Laguna Presbyterian Church supports the following local non-profit organizations and ministries with a monthly monetary donation. CLICK on the name of the organization for more information. Many of these organization also have volunteer opportunities.

Laguna Beach Community Clinic

Provides medical care for all individuals in Orange County, regardless of ability to pay.

Friendship Shelter

Assists homeless adults to regain self-sufficiency and become more productive members of the community.

Kathy’s House

Provides shelter and other support to women and children in need.

Sally’s Fund

Provides transportation and other essential services for senior citizens of Laguna Beach.

Laguna Beach Susi Q Senior Center

Enhances the lives of seniors through programs and services that promote independence, wellness and community.

Age Well Senior Services

Provides resources for older adults to promote vitality, provide meals for the home-bound through Meals on Wheels, and support independence.

Laguna Beach Youth Shelter

Provides short-term crisis intervention shelter for youth ages 11-17, with the goal of reunifying families

The Food Pantry

Provides assistance to Laguna Beach residents in times of disaster and helps homeless, indigent and the working poor with food, clothing and information.

 

Serving in Christmas Ministries at LPC

The following are Christmas events or opportunities organized by Laguna Presbyterian Church. Everyone is welcome to join in!  This is a great way to celebrate the season while giving back to those in our community who need LORhomelessassistance.

Christmas Breakfast and Gifts

Christmas breakfast is served and gifts are given to the homeless in our community.   This event is organized by Laguna Presbyterian Church, Neighborhood Congregational Church, local Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts troops, and many individuals in the community.  CLICK HERE for more information from Rick Shoemaker

The Giving Tree

Each Christmas season, you can pick up a gift tag from our Giving Tree Table. Purchase the item and return it wrapped to the tree. The gifts are given to various charitable agencies in the Laguna Beach community. CLICK HERE for more information from Virginia Grogan

This party is sponsored by the Mission Outreach Committee in coordination with the women of La Playa ESL Center.  At this party held in Tankersley Hall, the gifts from the Giving Tree donations are given to the families. Heifer International

Heifer International is dedicated to ending world hunger by providing livestock, trees, training and other resources to help struggling families around the world. This is an alternative gift suggestion offered to the congregation through the Mission Outreach Committee during the Christmas season.  Volunteer opportunities at the Heifer International Booth at the Orange County Fair are also available.
