Anne Herzog Awarded “Outstanding Director Award” by O.C. Dept. of Ed.
Congratulations! (May 21, 2016 – PRESS RELEASE)
Anne Herzog, Director of Laguna Presbyterian Preschool (LPP), was honored on May 21, 2016, with an Outstanding Director Award at the Orange County Department of Education’s annual Excellence in Early Care and Education Awards Ceremony. Ms. Herzog was chosen from nominations across Orange County for her work with children and families in our community. “Anne is a great example for all private, faith-based, parent funded programs to follow. She takes on all new challenges with an open mind and her focus is always what is best for children and families. Her staff has grown tremendously under her leadership” stated one nomination.
Anne joined the staff at Laguna Presbyterian Preschool in 2003, and was promoted to Director in 2013. In the three years that Ms. Herzog has served in her role as Director she has expanded a partnership with Laguna Beach Unified School District’s special education department, which has provided typical peer interaction to the district’s preschool students. In 2014-2015, Ms. Herzog also connected Laguna Presbyterian Preschool with the Orange County Department of Education’s Quality Start OC Program, funded through the Race to the Top Grant. Quality Start OC is a community partnership which focuses on raising the quality of early care and education programs across the county. This program focuses on four key areas: raising community awareness; supporting educators and care providers; supporting parents; and operating the Quality Rating and Improvement System. Through this program the staff has received personalized training, coaching and support to further improve the quality of the programs offered at LPP. Additionally, Anne has initiated the use of new developmental screening tools to provide parents with the most accurate developmental picture of their children.
Anne prides herself on her advocacy for children, and she is passionate to meet each child’s individual needs through an enriching preschool experience. Most mornings Ms. Herzog can be seen standing outside our gates with her arms opened wide giving each child walking through those gates a “high five” or a hug, welcoming them with a smile on her face! LPP has a 55-year tradition of excellence serving the families of Laguna Beach, and under Ms. Herzog’s outstanding direction and improvements, this preschool in the heart of our town can be proud of the care and learning that our littlest ones receive, now more than ever.
